Introducing the 2026 Subaru Solterra

Our first battery-electric vehicle is getting a serious update. The revamped 2026 Subaru Solterra EV is coming soon to Ewing Subaru of Plano. Not only will it feature updates on the outside, but there will also be marked improvements in the driving experience, overall efficiency, and interior comfort.

The driving experience and efficiency improvements come from an upgraded 74.7-kilowatt-hour battery. The larger battery will deliver more than 285 miles of range – an improvement of 25% from the current Solterra. The new lithium-ion battery will get an improved preconditioning system that is activated by the driver, improving charging when it is cold outside. In turn, you should expect a 10-80% recharge at a DC fast charger in 35 minutes at up to 150-kilowatts.

The Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system has been updated to integrate both motors in on- and off-road situations. The new control unit will enable more flexible power distribution in various conditions. Together, the combined performance of both motors is up to 233 horsepower.

In addition, an upgraded motor setup offers a new level of performance. It is called the Solterra XT. Both motors get more power than the standard Solterra—a combined 338 horsepower. That would send the Solterra XT on a 0-60 MPH sprint of under five seconds.

An improved X-MODE Dual-Mode System offers optimal traction using the Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud settings, enhancing off-road performance. This system includes Grip Control and Downhill Assist Control, both enabling more confidence in situations where traction is needed. The Solterra and Solterra XT still offer an 8.3-inch ground clearance to manage the terrain below.

You will also find a new 14-inch Subaru Multimedia touchscreen that is the hub for all connectivity. It is positioned lower on the center stack and includes smartphone integration. Charging your devices has also been improved with new USB-C ports for the rear passengers and upgraded power up front. The cabin gets further updates to enhance center console storage.

Solterra models will continue to offer EyeSight driver-assist technologies. This award-winning suite of driver assistance features continues to keep you, your occupants, and your Solterra safe from harm.

The exterior design gets updated with new EV-specific LED lightning signatures front and back, including an illuminated logo up front. The front bumper gets revamped, and all Solterras get updated 18 and 20-inch wheel designs. Front fenders are now painted in a single color, while two-tone color schemes are now available. The rear end also receives new badging and liftgate trim. The new rear spoiler adds lightning elements while improving aerodynamics.
