2022 Subaru WRX Finally Makes It Debut

Introducing the 2022 Subaru WRX.

In its fifth generation, the new 2022 WRX raises the bar in many ways. It remains at its core a rally-bred icon for the ages.

The new WRX is now built on the Subaru Global Platform. This benchmark platform has underpinned our most popular models and has proven to be versatile for every application. For the WRX, that means combining the performance of the rally icon with the stability one expects from this car.

The platform now brings the power that you demand. Underneath the hood is a new 271-horsepower 2.4-liter turbocharged BOXER engine with 258 pound-feet of torque. Drivers have a choice of a six-speed manual transmission or a brand new automatic, called the Subaru Performance Transmission. This transmission is designed for quicker up and down shifts in the lower ratios. Both transmissions are connected to Subaru’s Symmetrical all-wheel drive system.

The WRX’s chassis receives improvements designed for optimal handling and control. A new dual-pinion electric power steering now provides quicker response and improved steering feel. The suspension system has been enhanced, along with the new GT model’s electronically controlled dampers – a first for the WRX.

The WRX GT is a welcome addition to the lineup. On top of the electrically controlled dampers, this new top-of-the-line trim also adds drive mode select. The GT is also distinctive with specific exterior and interior accents, along with Recaro performance seats.

Interior-wise, you will be greeted with a new high-definition SUBARU STARLINK 11.6-inch center information display. This will serve as the hub. For infotainment, connectivity, comfort and climate control.

Subaru has always built the safest vehicles on the road. The 2022 WRX will be equipped with an enhanced version of the EyeSight Driver Assist Technology suite. This enhanced suite includes new safety and convenience features, including Lane Departure Prevention, Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering, and Automatic Emergency Steering.

Available in early 2022, the new WRX is set to create a new benchmark for Subaru performance. Pricing has not been announced at this time.
