Despite the 2023 Solterra being pretty new to us at Ewing Subaru of Plano, the 2024 Solterra already has some significant changes. Key among the updates are faster charging and enhanced Subaru EyeSight® Driver Assist technologies.

Faster Charging

The lithium-ion battery has been adjusted to accept higher charging levels. This means the 2024 Solterra can charge from 10% to 80% in about 35 minutes at Level 3 (DC-direct) charging stations. When charging at home, an upgraded battery conditioning system enhances the 2024 Solterra’s ability to charge more quickly in colder temperatures—up to 80 minutes faster than the previous model. When charged to 100%, a 2024 Solterra Premium has an estimated range of 228 miles.

As with the 2023 model, all Solterras have standard Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive with one motor between the front axle and another in the rear. Subaru’s StarDrive® Technology controls power between the front and rear to keep the motor output smooth and linear with 249 pound-feet of torque.

Off-Road Ready

Similar to the system in Wilderness models, every 2024 Solterra is equipped with the Dual-Function X-MODE®, which features specific Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud modes. Grip Control and Downhill Assist technologies are also available for sure-footed performance in low-grip and off-road conditions. Subaru is always generous with ground clearance, and the Solterra’s 8.3 inches is no exception, being best in class among small electric SUVs. Improved on-road handling and stability come in the form of standard Active Cornering Assist and Vehicle Stability Control.

New standard roof rails have a dynamic load capacity of up to 176 pounds and a stationary load capacity of up to 700 pounds, which is more than enough to support a roof tent and two people.

Improved Vision

The Solterra’s Subaru EyeSight® Advanced Driver-Assistance system is improved for 2024. To make stop-and-go driving in heavy traffic more bearable, Hands-Free Driving enables Solterra to travel in its lane at speeds up to 25 mph with only driver supervision. The 2024 Solterra can now change lanes on command at highway speeds with Active Lane Change Assist. Front Cross-Traffic Alert assists drivers when entering an intersection by alerting them to a potential collision. Additional EyeSight features include:

  • Blind Spot Monitors
  • Rear Camera Detection with Pedestrian Warning
  • Dynamic Radar Cruise Control with Lane Tracing
  • Road Sign Assist,
  • DriverFocus® Distraction Mitigation System

The 2024 Solterra earned a Top Safety Pick designation from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) and an overall 5-star rating from the NHTSA, which includes a five-star rating on each of their impact tests.

The 2024 Solterra retains its starting MSRP of $44,995 for the Premium model, above which are the Limited and Touring trim levels. This gives you even more reasons to go EV for your next car. So visit Ewing Subaru of Plano and see how the Solterra can work for you.
