I Don’t Regret Buying A Subaru
Buying a new car can be a gamble. After all, you go to dealership after dealership and spend less time with a vehicle than the salesperson trying to sell it to you. However, as Subaru is ranked as the best mainstream car brand, it comes as no shock that customers love their purchase and are happy to tell you why. Whether it’s their obsession with the all-wheel drive rally tales of the WRX or the thousands of miles driving their children around to extracurricular events in their Forester, a Subaru customer sees their vehicle as a convenience rather than a burden.
A Story From A Racing Mechanic
In a recent article for The Autopian, Bozi Tatarevic, a current racing mechanic and former motoring journalist, recounted how much he loves his Subaru WRX and why he doesn’t have a single regret about buying it a few years ago. He does a lot of driving to different race tracks and events around the country, and so his 2016 Subaru WRX, which he purchased brand new in late 2015, has racked up more than 200,000 miles with him behind the wheel. Some of those miles have been on race tracks, and lots have been on the highways of America.
Why Buy A Subaru?
“I was always the type to chase used cars and projects and much of my earlier writing work revolved around fixing up broken cars. All of my new car experiences were very short as they either happened through week-long loans or over a couple of days on a new car launch. A combination of getting fed up with keeping my projects running and just wanting to have a car with modern features led me on the hunt for a new car in the fall of 2015. I wanted a reliable daily driver that was fun so I settled on a new WRX and started reaching out to dealers and negotiating. I ended up with a base WRX from a local North Carolina dealer.”
Positive Experiences
The experiences that Bozi has had are generally positive, except for a time when a chair on the highway took out his front bumper, radiator, and condenser; luckily, no one was hurt. Other than that, his experiences have mostly been uneventful and filled with enjoyment.
200,000 Miles & Counting
“The WRX has taken me on trips all across the eastern seaboard and took me to some of my very first races as a professional racing mechanic, along with vacation adventures down the coasts to places like Georgia and Florida. Most of these trips were uneventful and even now as it has crossed the 200,000 mile mark it still gets the same fuel economy that I saw in those early days.”
A Trunk Big Enough For An Engine
At one point, Tatarevic was able to fit a full-size mock-up for an engine in the trunk of his WRX to drive home. It’s easy to see how much he loves his car but also how much fun he has had with his WRX as his trusty sidekick, so to speak.
Most Loyal Customers
This story isn’t an anomaly, as, according to J.D. Power and Associates, 61.1% of all Subaru customers are so loyal to the brand that they come back to purchase another Subaru either for themselves or a child. It takes a lot to build a car that can take the daily abuse of 200,000 or more miles while also keeping passengers safe and comfortable.
