Introducing the New 2026 Subaru Trailseeker

June 5th, 2025 by

Subaru caught the EV bug a few years ago with the Solterra. With the new 2026 Trailseeker, it has raised the bar in terms of what a Subaru battery-electric vehicle should be. Introduced at the New York International Auto Show in April, the 2026 Trailseeker is powered by a new two-motor electric drive system that still offers the prowess of our Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system. It is built with safety in mind, while offering practicality and the fun-to-drive nature for which Subaru is known.

The electric dual-motor drive system has more performance to give. Rated at 375 horsepower, it now offers more towing capacity at 3,500 pounds. It also has a set of acceleration sensors around the vehicle, which enables the drive system to make adjustments when accelerating, braking, or turning. This ensures that each wheel gets the proper amount of power to get through anything.

Energy for the dual-motor drive system is fed from a 74.7-kilowatt-hour battery pack with an onboard battery preconditioning system for better charging in cold weather. The 2026 Trailseeker should deliver more than 260 miles of range from a full state of charge. With the standard NACS charging port, you now have more places to charge your 2026 Trailseeker.

With 8.3 inches of ground clearance, the 2026 Trailseeker gets the X-MODE Dual-Mode System with Snow/Dirt and Deep Snow/Mud Modes, along with Grip Control and Downhill Assist Control—all of which point to its prowess beyond the pavement.

The 2026 Trailseeker offers more space for outdoor activities and pets. There is a larger cargo area and a taller roofline that makes the next adventure a great one to enjoy. Compared to the Solterra EV, it is six inches longer and an inch taller. The finishing touch is a new EV-specific LED lightning signature both front and back. There are also new 18- and 20-inch wheel designs.

The cabin is airy and bright, which encourages everyone to get ready for adventure—even if the adventure requires you to get through the Metroplex for activities around the region. At its heart is a large 14.0-inch Subaru Multimedia touchscreen—the largest in Subaru’s history. It offers smartphone connectivity through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
