When it comes to transporting your family, the 2025 Subaru Ascent is a great choice. With three rows of seats for up to eight people, you can take it on road trips without cramping anyone’s style. Why is the Ascent a good choice for families?

Cars.com took a very good look at the 2025 Ascent to determine whether it is a good family vehicle. They came up with five things to like about our three-row SUV.

The first thing they liked was the turbocharged 2.4-liter BOXER four-cylinder engine. Rated at 260 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque, Cars.com stated that this engine has plenty of grunt to easily get this fully loaded three-row SUV up to speed. You can also tow up to 5,000 pounds in the 2025 Ascent.

While most of our competitors offer all-wheel drive as an option, the 2025 Ascent has our Symmetrical AWD standard on all trim levels. Cars.com said, “bringing the added traction and security many SUV buyers want for everyday driving.” The 2025 Ascent also comes with X-Mode to help with traction in various conditions.

The 2025 Ascent has a few advantages over its competitors. Cars.com pointed out that its size, visibility, and higher seating position create a better overall driving experience. They stated that “the Ascent’s visibility also helps with maneuvering and parking.”

Second-row occupants get a lot of features available to them in the 2025 Ascent. Connectivity is plentiful with USB-A, USB-C, and standard household outlets to charge up their devices. Parents will also love the Cabin Connect feature that communicates with the second- and third-row occupants. If your passengers back there can’t hear you, activating this feature will make your voice loud and clear to them. Both second- and third-row occupants get air vents along with a tri-zone climate control system, along with heated second-row outboard seats on select trim levels.

The 2025 Ascent is also built to be safe with standard EyeSight Driver Assist Technologies. You can also get it with the DriverFocus Distraction Mitigation System. All of which are the reasons why the 2025 Ascent earned the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety’s Top Safety Pick designation.
