When Subaru says it is more than just a car company, it often refers to the charity programs it supports as part of the Subaru Love Promise. This has clearly sunk in with the public because, as Subaru of Plano is proud to announce, for the second year in a row, Subaru was ranked by Forbes as the top automotive brand for social impact. It was ranked #2 among all companies in all industries. Since being ranked automatically raises the question of who was #1, it was the REI sporting goods company.

To showcase companies doing well at doing good, Forbes partnered with HundredX and established consumer insights researchers to create this second-annual list of brands whose corporate efforts inspire the most support and customer loyalty. An online survey of more than 185,000 consumers was taken from March 2023 through February 2024. Respondents rated brands and products in more than a dozen categories, four of which were used for this Social Impact list:

  • Overall Brand Values and Trust
  • Social Stances
  • Sustainability
  • Community Support

Almost 4.5 million ratings were given across more than 3,000 unique brands. There is additional support that a brand’s reputation for social impact is becoming more important. In the previous year’s study, 22% of respondents offered strong positive or negative feelings about brands’ social impact. This year, that figure jumped to 27%. The change is statistically significant when the data set is this large. Another trend found that brands did particularly well when customers could see their impact in local communities, which aligns with Subaru and its retailers’ commitment to upholding the Subaru Love Promise. The Subaru Love Promise has an ongoing commitment to four key national organizations:

  • The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals® (ASPCA®)
  • Make-A-Wish®
  • Meals on Wheels America
  • The National Park Foundation

In addition, every Subaru dealer goes the extra mile and identifies charitable organizations in their own communities to help support. This has amounted to helping over 830 local charities this past year. Subaru of Plano’s designated organizations are:

  • Take Me Home Rescue | Dallas Pets Alive | Rocky Road Refuge
  • Susan G. Komen North Texas | Genesis Women’s Shelter | Living for Zachary | Casa of Collin County
  • Plano ISD
  • Texas Oncology | Presbyterian Dallas | Children’s Medical Center

“Giving back and creating personal connections in our communities is essential to Subaru and our retailers.” Said Jeff Walters, President and Chief Operating Officer, Subaru of America, Inc. We’re proud to be recognized among an expanded group of incredible brands for our dedication to the Subaru Love Promise, which so clearly makes a meaningful impact both inside and outside our company.”

When selecting a new vehicle, there are many practical and personal considerations, and Subaru designs its vehicles to address them. However, Subaru and its retailers also believe it is important to do its part to positively impact the world simply because it is the right thing to do. It is all part of being in the Subaru business, and Subaru of Plano is proud to be a part of it.
