Subaru Solterra: Our First Fully Electric Vehicle Is Coming!

At Subaru, we are committed to participating in the electric future. That is why they introduced the 2023 Solterra SUV – the first battery-electric vehicle by Subaru.

As with all Subaru SUVs, the Solterra will come with standard Symmetrical All Wheel Drive. This system is electronic and acts together at each axle through an electric motor on each one. Subaru calls it StarDrive, which is designed to provide outstanding traction and capability in all kinds of weather and terrain. This system delivers substantial on-demand torque at all speeds with power and driver-selectable regenerative modes.

In addition, StarDrive will include the Subaru X-MODE, offering increased performance in low-friction and off-road conditions. The Solterra rides with a platform giving it an 8.3-inch ground clearance.

In total, the Solterra has 215 horsepower and 248 pound-feet of torque from its two motors. It will also yield an estimated 220 mile range from a fully-charged high-capacity lithium-ion battery. The Solterra can be charged anywhere from Level 2 and DC fast charging stations, as well as at home. Through a DC fast charging station, the Solterra can charge up to 80-percent of total battery capacity in under an hour.

The Solterra will also be equipped with the latest safety technology and interactive convenience EV owners demand. There is a new multimedia system with an available 12.3-inch touchscreen. That system will include all integrated technologies, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. This screen will also feature a 360-degree Surround-View Camera for enhanced safety when parking your Solterra.

An app from your smartphone can also support your Solterra through many in-vehicle features. These include Remote Start with Climate Control, Smart Navigation, and Remote Lock/Unlocking.

The 2023 Solterra is also designed to protect you all around. Safety features include EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology and Blind Spot Monitor with Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert. Also standard is the Parking Support Brake which can apply the vehicle’s brakes if an obstacle is detected while reversing.
