The 2025 Subaru Crosstrek Takes the Cars.com Child Seat Test

When it comes to taking your family along for the ride, they need to be comfortable, secure, and safe—which means car seats for the youngest family members. The 2025 Subaru Crosstrek has become the perfect vehicle for families with small children. Cars.com recognized our small crossover’s popularity, putting it through the outlet’s child seat test.  

The Cars.com child seat test uses a number of child restraints commonly used in automobiles. The editors use an infant seat, a convertible front- and rear-facing seat, and a booster seat. Cars.com also checks for latch fitment for child seat installation.   

How did the 2025 Crosstrek do in these tests?  

Latching these seats is the key to keeping children safe on board. Cars.com awarded the 2025 Crosstrek an “A.” The editors observed that “the two sets of lower anchors sit under removable fabric covers and are easy to find and use. There’s also an extra single anchor for use in the middle position (of the rear seat); caregivers should read the owner’s manual to make sure they are using the anchor correctly. The three top tether anchors on the seatback are clearly marked and also easy to use.” 

For each child seat Cars.com used for its tests, the editors awarded the 2025 Crosstrek an “A” grade—across the board. Regarding the infant seat, they said that it was “easy to install, and our 5-foot-6-inch front passenger had enough legroom when seated in front of it.” Cars.com stated that both convertible seats “fit well.” 

Booster seats require a few things to make sure they’re secure in the rear seats. Cars.com reports that they “removed the head restraint for a good fit. The Crosstrek’s large buckle stalks are relatively stable, so kids should be able to grasp and use them independently.” 

Cars.com reminds us that “the middle seat’s seat belt is attached to the outboard seat’s head restraint.” That can be utilized for when your children grow out of using a car seat. Plus, it stows rather neatly out of sight when it is not needed.
