The Changes for the 2023 Legacy That You Can and Cannot See

Now at Ewing Subaru of Plano, you will find the 2023 Legacy with a new face, new features, and a powerful new available engine. Starting with the styling. Every 2023 sports completely new front-end styling, featuring a bolder grille with a horizontal bar that extends beyond its borders into the completely redesigned headlights. To make room for the grille, the bumper has been redesigned and is flanked by aggressively styled side intakes.

Greater Safety Features Across the Lineup

Subaru’s EyeSight driver assist system is now standard on every 2023 Legacy. That means all new Legacy models will be equipped with Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control with Lane Centering, Pre-Collision Braking, Lane Departure and Sway Warning, and Automatic Emergency steering. EyeSight Uses a set of color cameras mounted near the center mirror to monitor traffic movement for adaptive cruise control, and scans the lane lines to warn and assist if you sway outside your lane. The system keeps an eye out for other unexpected dangers on the road and can both cut the throttle and apply full braking in an emergency situation.

The Touring XT now includes an enhancement to the EyeSight system with the addition of a Wide-angle Mono Camera that can provide earlier recognition of pedestrians and bicyclists when the Legacy is approaching an intersection.

Optional on the Premium grade and standard on the Limited, Sport, and Touring XT, is the Blind-Spot Detection system, which is now accompanied by Lane Change Assist and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert. A yellow vehicle icon will still appear in the outside mirror when a vehicle approaches from behind in that side’s adjacent lane, but now the icon will now flash if you use your turn indicators to indicate a lane change in that direction. Rear Cross-Traffic Alert is particularly useful when you wish to back out of a parking space next to a vehicle that blocks your view. The system will give both an audible and visual warning if a possibly unseen vehicle is approaching from either side.

For greater convenience, all 2023 Legacy models with the 11.6-inch Multimedia interface display (all but the Base grade) now include wireless capability for both Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. So now you don’t have to reach for either your keys or your smartphone when entering the vehicle. The interface has also been updated with improved on-screen controls for audio, HVAC, and other vehicle features.

The Sport is Now Turbocharged

The Sport trim level now joins the Touring XT with a standard turbocharged 2.4-liter Boxer engine. The engine produces 260 hp @ 5,600 rpm, 277 lb-ft @ 2,000 – 4,800 rpm, and is accompanied by a sport-tuned suspension. The Sport also has an exclusive interior with black and gray two-tone cloth trimmed with contrasting red stitching.

The Sport feature-set builds on the Premium adding LED fog lights, power moonroof, and an in-car navigation system. The Sport also now includes additional safety features such as Reverse Automatic Braking and the DriverFocus® Distraction Mitigation System. This trim is quickly identifiable by a red accent trim atop the bar across the grille. A subtle rear spoiler has a magnetite gray metallic finish that is matched by the side mirrors. Gray 18-inch alloy wheels complete the exterior enhancement.
