The Many Ways Subaru Loves Pets

Of the five facets of the Subaru Love Promise, possibly the most specific is “Subaru Loves Pets”.  This goes far beyond showing those adorable golden retrievers in their national commercials. It is a multi-pronged campaign that supports animals, animal adoption, and animal travel in a variety of ways and Ewing Subaru of Plano is proud to be a part of it. 

Long-Term ASPCA Partnership

The most visible part of the campaign – again, besides those golden retrievers – is the partnership Subaru has with the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA). Since 2008, Subaru has donated over $42 million to the ASPCA and other organizations which facilitate the rescue, transport, adoption, and well-being of over 320,000 animals across the country. Subaru even brings puppies from local shelters to the auto shows they participate in around the country, complete with all the documentation necessary for attendees to adopt them on the spot.

Helping the Underdogs

While they encourage and help support pet adoption of all kinds, Subaru has focused attention on shelter dogs with special needs, which they refer to as Underdogs.  These are dogs that by accident, poor health, or just time, have found themselves both in shelters and with disabilities and yet are just as capable of loving and being loved. Subaru supports shelters that help find homes for these dogs. For the last four years, this effort has come to a peak on October 22nd, which they designate as “National Make a Dog’s Day”.  Last year, they helped over 47,000 shelter pets find homes, bringing the total number of pets adopted by this program to over 106,000.

Helping Pet Travel

Keenly aware that adopting pets means transporting them on occasion, Subaru has the most extensive line of pet accessories of any manufacturer. Where applicable, all of these accessories are custom fitted to specific Subaru models.  These include:

  Your 2nd-row seat will be fully protected even as it accommodates a center arrest and 60/40 seat back folding.
• Collapsible Pet Kennel
  For pooches that just won’t stay still, this light, easy-to-handle kennel keeps them in place for everyone’s safety.  It is easy to secure and collapses into a briefcase shape for easy carrying.
• Rear Bumper Protector Mat
  Helps protect the top surface of the rear bumper when your pets are entering and exiting the vehicle.
• Pet Ramp
  Allows your larger and older dog to enter and exit your Subaru’s hatch area.  It holds up to 220 pounds and collapses to be stored in the cargo area while your pet is traveling.
• Console Lid Protector (Ascent, Crosstrek, Impreza Forster, Legacy Outback)
  Sometimes your canine friend wants to be right up with you and will plop their paws on the center console to do so.  This protects the lid from scratches.
• Pet Harness
  The harness enables you to buckle up your dog for safety, distributing sudden brake force across their chest and securing them in place.

  Subaru loves pets but knows that most cats hate car trips. This carrier gives them a plush place to rest and keeps them from wandering about in the car. When out of the car, the top removes to give them a nice mobile bed.
