The Subaru Crosstrek Excels When the Going Gets Rough

Redesigned for 2024, the Subaru Crosstrek had its best sales ever for December 2023, with sales up over 17% from the previous December.  That led to the best U.S. Crosstrek year ever. The same is the case for our neighbors up north, where Subaru of Canada reported the Crosstrek also had its best December and overall year, with sales up 13.7%.

Canada perhaps comes to mind because on the day of this writing, Plano reached a low of 12 degrees Fahrenheit, and that is up from two days ago when the low was 9 degrees. This is not the usual case for Ewing Subaru of Plano’s home, even in January, but it could be seen as commonplace in many parts of Canada. 

In the great north, when the temperatures drop and new snow starts piling on top of old snow, Canadians appear to appreciate a small SUV from a company with a long history in all-wheel drive systems. Also not lost on them is that the Crosstrek’s 8.7 inches of ground clearance is greater than that of most small SUVs, and that difference widens with the 9.3-inch ground clearance on the Wilderness model. The Snow setting on X-Mode is also likely to be appreciated. 

In fact, with the addition of the Wilderness model, the Torque News author predicts the Crosstrek will be “…the top-selling small SUV in North America in 2024,” stating that “More small SUV customers with active lifestyles want to escape civilization and get further off the grid. Overlanding and camping are prominent in the Northeast, Mountain states, the Pacific Northwest, and the Canadian Rockies.”

What does that mean in the usually warm home of Subaru of Plano? Simply, if you want a small car ready to take on any place at any time or if you want confidence in going to visit anyone no matter where they are during the winter holidays while being a perfectly enjoyable car across the rest of the year, the Crosstrek is the vehicle for you.
