What Colors Are Available For The 2025 Subaru Forester

June 20th, 2024 by

The Forester has been redesigned for 2025, and as of this writing, models are on their way to the Subaru of Plano inventory. You can read about what is new on the Forester here and here, but neither of those posts covers the color choices. Color is a significant consideration, and having a choice is one of the advantages of purchasing a new car. You may want a bold color to express yourself or to simply be able to find the vehicle more easily in a large parking lot. Other people may want a break from whatever they were driving before.

Practical shoppers often turn to silver grays and black because road dirt tends to blend in, making the car appear less dirty. The popularity of this strategy has led to criticism that there are too many vehicles on the road that fall somewhere in the black-white spectrum, and that is reflected in this breakdown of the most common car colors in America:

  • White cars: 23.9%
  • Black cars: 23.2%
  • Gray cars: 15.5%
  • Silver cars: 14.5%
  • Red cars: 10.3%
  • Blue cars: 9.0%
  • Brown cars: 1.4%
  • Green cars: 0.7%
  • Beige cars: 0.4%
  • Orange cars: 0.4%

Paint color is one of the easiest and quickest things for a manufacturer to change, add, and subtract from one year to the next. It truly is an area where the marketplace rules.

The 2025 Forester offers ten exterior colors from which to choose, with half of them falling outside the black-white spectrum:

Metallic vs. Pearl vs. Silica

All of the colors except for Crystal Black Silica have either a metallic or pearl finish, and it is worth noting that, as a rule, cars with metallic and pearl finishes have a higher resale value. Metallic paint includes small bits of powdered metal and aluminum. It varies, but generally, the ratio is roughly one part powdered metal to 50 parts paint. In addition to adding a bit of sparkle depth to the finish, metallic car paint generally holds up better than a standard finish. It resists bleaching or fading and maintains a gloss longer than a standard finish. On the other hand, significant scratches can be more challenging to repair seamlessly.

Pearlescent paint is similar to metallic except that what is added are microscopic ceramic particles. These ceramic crystals, or “mica,” not only reflect light, like the metallic finish, but also refract it – meaning light is slowed down as it passes through the mica. This splits light into many different colors and makes cars with a pearlescent finish shine with deep and varying color shades that alter with your viewing angle. Pearl paint is also better at concealing minor scratches and blemishes but can be more difficult to match if a repaint is needed. Pearl paints are generally more expensive, though the only extra cost color on the 2025 Forester is River Rock Pearl, which has an added cost of $395.
