​​What does MotorWeek Have to Say About the 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid?​ 

The idea behind the 2026 Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid is simple: Get more fuel efficiency from a vehicle that exudes the most fun per mile. The result is something you will definitely enjoy.  

During their 45th season, the automotive television show MotorWeek recently reviewed the 2026 Crosstrek Hybrid. They stated that they worked with this model when it had the “XV” in the model’s name. This is also the third hybrid system they tested in the Crosstrek.  

Today’s 2026 Crosstrek Hybrid is made possible by a new parallel system that integrates the 2.5-liter BOXER four-cylinder engine with two electric motors into the Lineartronic continuously variable transmission. The total net combined horsepower is 194, which is an even better match for the lighter-weight Crosstrek.  

As with all Crosstreks, the Hybrid comes standard with Symmetrical all-wheel drive. That assists in traction year-round in any condition. It also retains its 8.7-inch ground clearance, which gives it not only an agile stance but also the ability to manage obstacles in its wake – even some on our streets.  

There are two advantages to the Crosstrek Hybrid. One is improved fuel economy, with the Environmental Protection Agency rating it at 36 MPG across the board. That translates to a 597-mile range on a full tank of gas. The other is lower emissions, which will be helpful here in the Metroplex.  

You may not notice the difference between the Crosstrek and the Crosstrek Hybrid right away. A few Hybrid badges on the exterior make it distinctive, as does a black-finished set of alloy wheels. However, it remains a very versatile hatchback that can seat up to five. It also carries up to 50.6 cubic feet with the rear seats folded down.  

The 2026 Crosstrek comes with a 12.3-in fully digital instrument cluster, offering clear, colorful readouts for quick information. In the middle is an 11.6-inch Multimedia Plus infotainment touchscreen that serves as a hub for connectivity, smartphone integration, entertainment, and several key vehicle functions.  

Every 2026 Crosstrek Hybrid comes with EyeSight Driver Assist Technology, one of its best features according to MotorWeek. Combined with several key safety and driver-assistance features, it protects you, your passengers, and your 2026 Crosstrek Hybrid from harm on the road.
