​​Your Subaru Makes Its Port of Call in Vancouver…USA​

Have you ever wondered where your Subaru comes from? Our most popular models are assembled in our Lafayette, Indiana plant. In contrast, some have to be shipped from Japan. When they arrive in the USA, they are first unloaded at one of the most important ports of call on the West Coast.

The Port of Vancouver USA is located across the Columbia River from Portland, Oregon. Located in Washington state, it serves as a deep-water port slightly inland from the Pacific Ocean. The port facility provides excellent access to rail and truck transportation throughout the country, free from traffic constraints. This has been their main port of call for the USA since 1993. It will remain their primary port through 2040, thanks to a new lease agreement between Subaru of America and the Port of Vancouver USA.  

Subaru now leases 43 acres at the port, which includes vehicle storage and preparation facilities. From there, the vehicles are processed for transport via rail or truck to locations across North America. The port facility currently receives the new 2026 Outback, Impreza, WRX, BRZ, and Solterra. They will soon be joined by the Trailseeker and Uncharted models.  

Julianna Marker, the CEO of Port of Vancouver USA, said: “This partnership has endured through various market shifts for more than 30 years, and we’re so pleased the Port of Vancouver USA-Subaru connection is now solidified through 2040. These types of strong agreements not only create and sustain local jobs, they serve as anchors for long-term economic opportunities in our region.” 

In response, Lisa Quan, the Vice President of Vehicle Planning & Logistics at Subaru of America, Inc., added: “This enduring collaboration, built on mutual trust since 1993, supports local jobs and positions Subaru for future growth, as well as innovation with logistics operations that continue to meet our evolving business environment.” 

Maintaining a major port of call for an automaker is important for Subaru. This port provides easier access to transportation routes, local employment opportunities, and secure storage for our in-transit vehicles. This partnership is also designed to maintain the quality of Subaru products that we produce in Japan before they are delivered to our customers.
