2026 Subaru Uncharted

Performance

There are two drivetrains in the Uncharted model lineup. The entry-level Premium is powered by a single motor producing 221 horsepower. In the interest of increasing range, the motor powers only the front wheels, making this the first front-wheel-drive Subaru in 30 years. With the same 74.7-kWh lithium-ion battery as the rest of the model line, including the Solterra, the Uncharted Premium has an expected range of 300 miles.  

Sport and GT models feature a second motor mounted in the rear, standard Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive with X-MODE®. They are rated at 338 horsepower, an extraordinary level of power for a vehicle of this size. In this configuration, the Uncharted is estimated to have a range of 285 miles.  

All models feature a battery preconditioning system that brings the battery to an optimal temperature for charging in cold weather. As a result, the model can charge at speeds up to 150 kW, enabling a direct-DC fast-charge time from 10 to 80% of approximately 28 minutes. To help access such fast chargers, the model features a North American Charging Standard (NACS) port compatible with the Tesla Supercharger network.  

Exterior

The Uncharted has an undeniably sporty exterior, with a Coke-bottle-shaped lower body with a distinctive wedge-like profile. The front is very clean, with 6-element LED lights that are a Subaru EV signature and a small center opening, not much larger than the Subaru badge it contains. The six elements of the front lights are repeated in the taillights, mounted high on the raised beltline. Available two-tone color schemes feature a black roof accentuating the sporty appearance. 

Interior

The Uncharted dash features a clean horizontal design. The driver’s display is located near the base of the windshield, where, like a head-up display, it can be read while the road ahead is still in view. The steering wheel is squared off at the top and bottom to both clear the view of the display and give the legs a bit of maneuvering room when entering and exiting, as well as during driving. 

At the center is a standard 14-inch touchscreen, with permanently positioned climate controls on the lower third, including knobs for volume and standard dual climate control settings. Electronic controls for park, drive, and reverse are located in the floating center console, which also includes dual wireless phone charging pads.  

The rear seat legroom matches the Crosstrek at 36.5 inches. Cargo space behind the rear seats exceeds the Crosstrek with 25.5 cubic feet. 

Technology

The Uncharted features a high level of technology across the model line. It starts with the 14-inch center touchscreen, which supports wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™. Standard is not one but two wireless phone charging pads in the front console. Instead of being on the steering wheel spokes, the steering wheel controls are on each side of the center hub, providing plenty of room for full sets of controls for the audio, driving assist, and other systems. Ambient lighting is standard, while the GT model features an 11-speaker Harman Kardon® audio system.  

Safety Features

All models come standard with Subaru’s Eye Sight® bundle of safety and driver assist technologies, which include:

•  Lane Departure Alert 

• Emergency Stop Assist 

• Advanced Adaptive Cruise Control 

• Distraction Mitigation System 

The Sport trim level adds Traffic Jam Assist, Active Lane Change Assist, and Front Cross-Traffic Alert. As a new vehicle, the Uncharted has not yet been tested by NHTSA or IIHS as of this writing, though Subaru models typically perform very well in their tests.
