7 Subaru Tips You May Not Know
1. Key Fob Trick
Thanks to modern technology, simply walking up to your Subaru with your keyless fob in your pocket means that all you have to do is grab the handle to unlock the vehicle, get in, and drive. When you need to lock the car, simply touch the grooves on the front of the handle to lock the car and walk away.

2. Keyless Entry Settings
By default, your Subaru is programmed only to unlock the driver door when you grab the handle or press the unlock button on your key fob. However, you can change the settings in the infotainment system to unlock all doors when you grab the driver door handle. On your touchscreen display, tap the “Settings” icon, tap the right arrow to scroll to “Car” at the top of the screen, then hit “Keyless Entry System,” where you can change from “Driver Door Only” to “All” when the car is unlocked.

3. Rear Camera Cleaning Trick
How many times have you put your car in reverse and gone to look at your infotainment screen only to see an incredibly dirty image? Subaru added a special hack that uses washer fluid for the rear window to clean the camera. Simply twist the right windshield wiper stalk upward and hold it to dispense washer fluid, which will soon flow down from the window straight to the camera, giving it a nice clean.

4. Power Liftgate Trick
Forester, Outback, and Ascent models have a power liftgate. If you are having issues with the liftgate and need to open it manually, press and hold the liftgate button next to the lock button on the rear door until you hear the car beep, which means that the power system for your rear hatch has been reset.

5. Memory Liftgate Trick
If your Subaru lives in a garage or some place with a low ceiling, you can reset how high the rear liftgate goes up when opening. With the hatch open, push the door down to the desired height and then press and hold the liftgate button until the car beeps. This means the new memory height setting will not go above where you set it. But, if you still want your hatch to open up the full amount, touch the memory liftgate button by the driver’s side door when you open it.

6. Cargo Cover
Are you missing a cargo cover? Are you going to go down to or call Ewing Subaru of Plano to inquire about buying a cover? Before you do that, check under the rear floor because it may be under there. This is where Subaru puts all of its covers. Just lift the floor and make sure it isn’t under the removable rear cargo floor.

7. PIN Code Access
Subaru PIN Code Access is a feature that allows you to unlock your Subaru without your key fob present by using the pad on the rear cargo hatch above the license plate. You can program the button with a series of taps to let it know it’s you and unlock the car. You can also leave your keys in the car if you are going to the beach, on a hike, or canoeing, biking, etc., and still be able to lock and unlock the vehicle without fear of losing your keys or someone stealing your car.
