New 2023 Subaru Solterra
The Subaru Solterra is the first all-electric car from Subaru. With its 72.8 kWh battery system that produces 215 horsepower and 249 lb-ft of torque with Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive. This all adds up to 222-228 miles of full electric range.
Drivers in America drive an average of 37 miles per day, so with 228 miles of range for the base Touring trim, you can almost drive from Plano to places like Austin, Houston, Tulsa, OK, and Hot Springs, Arkansas.
As a 5-passenger electric crossover vehicle, this is just the start, as the carmaker has a plan to release 3 more EVs by 2026 and to produce up to 400,000 EVs by the year 2028.
Performance
The Subaru Solterra’s Lithium-ion battery is liquid-cooled, and both the front and rear motors are permanent-magnet synchronous AC, with each motor producing 107 hp, 125 lb-ft of torque. This creates a combined 215 horsepower and 249 lb-ft of torque.
Special to the Solterra is its e-SUBARU Global Platform, which is designed to utilize the All-wheel drive system, amazing safety, and great driving dynamics and performance.
Exterior
Styling of the Subaru Solterra is designed for owners with an active lifestyle. With aerodynamic vehicle under-covers to increase positive airflow without restricting it, black lower body cladding, standard fixed crossbar mounting points on the roof, and roof rails are standard on the Limited and Touring trims. A ducktail spoiler at the bottom of the rear glass aids in the aerodynamics, along with a roof-mounted dual-spoiler with aerodynamic fins on the Limited and Touring models.

Interior
The Solterra has a bright and open interior with its large windshield, side windows, and panoramic roof. There are loads of storage areas, with the main one being an extra large area under the center console. The driver’s information display is a 7-inch digital cluster, an 8-inch multimedia infotainment touchscreen is standard, while a 12.3-inch system is optional. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are both standard.
Solterra features good space behind the second-row seats with 27.7 cu.ft. of cargo capacity with the seats up. The floor of the cargo area is able to be popped down to increase space to 29 cu.ft. The rear seats are also able to fold flat.
Each passenger has plenty of space, and the rear seats are especially great for children because they will have a lot of legroom.

Technology
The Solterra has a 6.6 kWh charger, and if you use a Level 2 charger (240V@32A), you can completely charge the Subaru from 0 to 100% in 9 hours. Using a DC fast charger can take you to 80% charge in 56 minutes.
Drivers have access to 3 different settings through Driving Mode Select, and the Regenerative Braking Force system has 4 settings. The Dual-Function X-MODE® features Snow / Dirt and Deep Snow / Mud modes with Grip Control and Downhill Assist Control.

Safety Connect
- Automatic Collision Notification
- In the event of a collision, a notification will be sent to a Solterra Connect Customer Care Advisor 24/7/365. This advisor will quickly contact you over the vehicle’s speaker system while alerting first responders.
- Emergency Assistance Button
- Pressing this button will immediately put you through to a Solterra Connect Customer Care Advisor 24/7/365, who can contact and send emergency services to your GPS location during a medical or non-medical emergency when on the road.
- Enhanced Roadside Assistance
- Pressing this button will allow you to receive non-emergency roadside assistance to your GPS location. This may include a battery jump, changing a flat tire, or bringing you gas if your vehicle runs out.
- Stolen Vehicle Locator
- In the event of your vehicle being stolen, a Solterra Connect Customer Care Advisor can work to track down and recover your vehicle using its GPS location to assist police.
Remote Connect
- Guest Driver
- The primary driver on the account will get alerts when the guest driver exceeds a preset speed limit, violates a curfew, or goes over a set amount of total miles driven.
- Vehicle Status
- You will be able to see if any of your windows or doors are open, check your mileage, and see the current amount of battery range in your Solterra.
- Last Parked Location
- Let the app help find exactly where you’ve parked your car in a crowded area.
- Unlock/Lock
- Remotely lock or unlock your Solterra to allow access when you aren’t near your vehicle.
- Remote Start
- Remotely start your Solterra using the app on your smartphone.
- Climate Settings
- Remotely set your preferred warm or cool settings before getting into your Solterra and setting off. You can also create a schedule for your Solterra to begin warming or cooling your car.
- Charge Management
- You can check the current state of charge as well as set a schedule for charging.
- Charging Station Locator
- This feature allows you to find local charging stations for your Solterra.
