Forester and Crosstrek Named Among Consumer Reports 2025 Annual Ten Top Picks
Consumer Reports features automotive reviews in every issue, but each year, the April issue focuses entirely on automobiles. In that issue, they select the ten vehicles they deem their top picks, with each model representing a different category. Ewing Subaru of Plano proudly announces that the Crosstrek and Forester are among those ten vehicles.
Of the ten categories, two are reserved for luxury-brand models, and one is for pickup trucks, meaning Subaru accounts for two of the seven categories in which it qualifies. This is no fluke either, as it marks the 12th consecutive year the Forester has made the list, and the category it represents is the best-selling and most competitive vehicle segment in the U.S.
Regarding the 2025 Forester, they highlighted the “added refinements throughout the cabin without straying from the winning formula…” They also mentioned that it is “roomier than it appears” and noted its quieter cabin, increased cargo space compared to the previous design, and good fuel economy for a non-hybrid. They also indicated that a hybrid model will be available in 2026. They awarded the Forester an above-average reliability rating and an overall score of 93 out of 100, which is higher than any of the other top ten models.
One step smaller in the increasingly popular compact SUV category is the Crosstrek, which marks its second consecutive year on this list or every year of its current design. They point to its “excellent ride, good fuel economy, standard all-wheel drive, and high ground clearance” as reasons for its selection. They also note the comfortable seats, the large touchscreen on most models, and the standard EyeSight suite of safety and driver assistance systems.
“Making Consumer Reports Annual 10 Top Picks award again is especially rewarding as their testing is so extensive. The Subaru Forester and Crosstrek remain excellent values for consumers thanks to their capability, fuel economy, safety, and comfort. Making the 10 Top Picks list again is an honor, and I am proud of the vehicles we offer to consumers,” said Jeff Walters, President and Chief Operating Officer, Subaru of America, Inc.
It is no secret that Consumer Reports highly appreciates how Subaru designs and manufactures its cars. In the same issue, among the listings of all models sold in the U.S., the Subaru models that received their recommendation include:
In another section of the April issue, they evaluate various brands under the heading “Who Makes the Best Cars?“ Subaru ranked #1 among the 32 brands, including mass-market and luxury brands.
