The 2024 Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness is a more Subaru-y Subaru
The new 2024 Subaru Crosstrek has been redesigned to better fill customers’ needs. Subaru listened to those who wanted a bit more off-road and overall usability. The 2.5-liter 4-cylinder now has 182 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque, an increase of 30 more horsepower and 36 more lb-ft of torque. The Crosstrek Wilderness adds a transmission cooler, 4.11 final drive ratio, and a 6-tenths of an inch higher ground clearance of 9.3 inches. This means the Wilderness has a higher ground clearance than that of the Ford Bronco Sport Badlands and the upcoming 2024 Toyota Land Cruiser. The Wilderness also has suspension, allowing higher degrees of approach, breakover, and departure angles of 20, 21.1, and 33 degrees.
Price and Fuel Economy
Subaru made sure to keep the Crosstrek easy for customers to purchase, as the base price is just $24,995, and the off-road Wilderness model starts at $31,995. The EPA estimates that you will be able to achieve up to 25 mpg city and 29 mpg highway, respectively, in the Wilderness edition.
Livability
If you are an outdoor enthusiast of any kind, the Crosstrek overall is one of the more perfect vehicles for an outdoor lifestyle. The previous generation could tow up to 1,500 lbs when properly equipped, but the 2024 model can tow up to 3,500 lbs. This helps to make the top-of-the-line WIlderness trim one of the highest-performing SUVs in its class. No matter what activities you enjoy, the Subaru will ensure your happiness with its capabilities.
X-Mode
Working together with the brilliant Subaru Symmetrical All-wheel drive system is X-MODE. X-MODE allows you to tell the vehicle what type of terrain you are driving on so that it can make the most of its traction and stability control systems. As Joel Feder of Motor Authority said in his recent review of the Subaru Crosstrek Wilderness, “Other automakers, looking at you Toyota, should take note of Subaru’s hill descent control. It’s an idiot-proof setup that is automatically engaged when X-Mode is on. As soon as the car crests a hill and or starts heading down a hill the system engages and maintains whatever speed the vehicle was going upon cresting and heading downwards—no buttons to click or variables to check. The system operates more smoothly and quietly than Toyota’s with no clunks or thunks that immediately induce concern.”
